04:17 Why does Dragon Ball has Winnie the Pooh?

  • Royal Conquest

I thought Rose was pretty obviously just Zamasu’s version of Super Saiyan God. Goku and Vegeta’s ki is just blue. Since they never explained Trunks’ power up my head canon says he’s tapped into God Ki and this is just the half-saiyan version of it. Until they explain otherwise that’s really the only thing that makes any sense considering he kills Zamasu Black or whatever he’s called as fusion.

  • Egg_Runner

talking about super, does anyone know why the pilaf gang are young in it? i thought they wished for youth only in GT?

  • Chris Logterman

Anyone else feel that Vegeta should wish for his tail back? He could actually control his Great ape form, and now that he’s God Tier, that would add some great action to my all time favorite character. I understand Goku and Gohan not doing it since they would go berserk, but it would suit Vegeta so much better. Also it would make him the last true Saiyan. I know there was a weakness from it, but that tail was strong af. And as we saw with Nappa, only Radditz couldnt do shit when they grabbed it. I would love to see Vegeta, crossed arms in a duel, opponent flashes behind him and Vegeta pimp slapping them with his tail. It would be laughable and epic at the same time.

  • Chris Logterman

*$POILER$*I never thought an evil Goku was a stupid idea. I always wondered how Goku would have turned out if Grandpa Gohan had never found him, or if Planet Vegeta was never destroyed. I was hoping to see something like this now that they have the multiple universes. Didnt expect a body snatchers type thing since Black isnt really Goku. Also, was it ever mentioned which universe Future Trunks is from? I feel he will show up again in the multiverse tournament arc as a warrior of either 1-5. Also, I assumed that power up from trunks was due to the fact that he had been training with the Kai’s and had never really unleashed all that power through rage. Would have been interesting if he got to train with Elder Kai by breaking the sword like Gohan.

  • sonic10chaosverse

well at least i know what you think about super…kinda
i don’t mind the ending of the trunks arc that much,i do dislike that he have to stay in another timeline identical to the one he was before black and zamasu arrived,i would basically try to connect this with xenoverse and make him join the time patrol(some retcons may be necessary)
also ¿what do you guys think about masakox reviews of the dragon ball super episodes?

  • zzymyn

I love Zamasu just because it shows what happens when a (competent) villain succeeds in their wish for immortality. Basically, once he got that wish, he had already won.

  • Francisco

Fuck Jelly Vegeta. I stopped watching those episodes as soon as the Jelly got Vegeta, and not because it pissed me off, BUT BECAUSE IT BORED THE FUCK OUT OF ME.

  • Akiteru

Watching this video made me happy. I’m genuinely glad that as a fan of the original series, and knowing you guys are absolute die-hard fans of the series too to the point you made a living out of, it pointed out the serious flaws of the writing and characters of Super.

At the moment, I view Super (unless you were holding back intentionally as not to anger fans) in a rather negative light, with most of the “Good episodes” being filler episodes. Ironically for me though, it wasn’t the first two arcs that struck me as the most disappointing, but the Goku Black / Zamasu arc (Minus the Vegitto vs Zamasu fight – that was amazing).

You’ve already highlighted why Zamasu is a terrible under developed villain with a motive that seems good on paper, but was poorly executed. As with most Dragonball villains, they’re usually one dimensional egomaniacs with a passion for power or destruction, and I’d have been perfectly happy with Zamasu sitting outside of the Dragonball villain stereotype as a very refreshing change. However for what it actually is, it felt like the show tossed us what had more potential than any villain before him, with a large empty vessel of what could’ve been.

I also hate “evil / dark” versions of main characters with a passion because it’s a tiresome trope which reeks of lack of creativity – but I was ok with Zamasu being Goku Black as a plot point, as was I willing to forgive the unexplained transformations and power upgrades. You’ve already explained how much of a wet blanket the ending to the arc was so I won’t repeat that.

What’s actually irking me right now, is that the good episodes, and references to previous events in the older series and what I would consider “diamonds in the rough” are products of the anime writing staff, and not stuff thought up by Toriyama himself.

It dawned on me that DBZ is the way it is BECAUSE of excellent executive meddling, and Toriyama simply took most of the credit for it. If DBGT is a product of nothing but executives (and we all know how that turned out), then DBS is the complete opposite, where Toriyama has too much control, and not enough quality control. Dragonball Super needs someone who knows / remembers more about the lore than Toriyama does to keep him on track and to tell him that some of his ideas are poorly executed, or just outright terrible.

Although back in DBZ where the Buu saga felt like the series was running out of ideas, it wasn’t as if the entire arc was without charm, as it was still full of memorable moments. In DBS however I don’t have the same desire to rewatch anything ever again other than the fight between Vegitto and Zamasu which as I’ve stated before, was perfectly executed.

Side characters outside of the filler episodes are shoved under the bus (Gohan criminally so, to the point many fans now make fun of that fact), and Goten practically doesn’t exist anymore. #18 has lost any semblance of personality from the Buu saga (she was my absolute favorite side character to watch) and has turned into a completely generic MILF with none of that snarkiness from before (In fact one of my desires in Super was to see 17 and 18 return as relevant protagonists).

That being said it’s nice seeing some of the old almost forgotten techniques (Mafubu) or characters (like Tagoma / Ginyuu being upgraded from mook to super mook, at the cost of throwing Gohan under the bus… again) from Dragonball getting the short limelight at times, but even then I believe that is the product of the Anime writers, and definitely not of Toriyama. Right now all the characters that Toriyama is churning out are completely uninspired and / or clones of characters (Universe 6 being an excuse to create clone characters) and we’re genuinely getting nothing new other than palette swap transformations.

I’m still holding out for an improvement in the series, and the nostalgia keeping me coming back to watch Dragonball Super is pretty strong (ok I lied, it’s because it conveniently airs shortly after Kamen Rider), but things are looking rather dire as all I’m expecting now is more Kamehameha, Final Flash and Galick Gun spam. I’d love to see a new attack be learnt or developed around about now… I mean do you remember the first time we saw Final Flash in DBZ and we all shat ourselves? Each arc in DB and DBZ had one or two of the major characters learning or showing off a new technique, with ideas kinda fizzling out by the Buu saga, but Dragonball Super has had exactly 0 so far.

Please keep up with the criticism of Super, because you know, maybe, some day before the series ends, we’ll be heard, and we will get something that won’t be lost to time just as a bad Toei money grabber rehash that rides on nostalgia goggles.

    • NeptuniasBeard

Pretty good rant, but I wouldn’t say Toriyama TOOK the credit for the changes in DBZ, people (mostly people who don’t know about the behind the scenes stuff) just give it to him. There’s not much he can do there. In interviews and what not he’s shown to be a pretty humble dude, and he’s constantly praising the other writers on Super.

  • Dumbird

I thought super sayain rose was just super sayain blue with different ki.

  • Nti13

So are we completely ignoring trunks having blue hair for no reason? lol. Well, if they’re setting up a multiverse, they can make sense of it. I can honestly say that in spite of the shows flaws Zamasu is the closest thing to a satisfying villain in the series ( who wasn’t just evil for evils sake)

    • Dumbird

I always assumed balma dyed his hair for some reason

  • GreatWyrmGold

It seems a bit odd to criticize Zamas(u) for being a stereotypical fallen-angel-type character when so, so many of Dragon Ball’s villains are little more than evil for evil’s sake. Dragon Ball Super is no Song of Ice and Fire, Ender’s Game, or Worm, but its villains are at worst up to Dragon Ball par, and Zamas(u) in particular shines out compared to most DB villains.

  • Josh R

I would give this series a 5.5/10 (Which is still good)
    To compare: I give GT a 6.5/10, DBZ a 9/10 and DB a 10/10

  • saturn0205 .

Was watching the video when the entire site crashed. *sigh* I’m going to YouTube.

  • sheld999

goku might actually die on xmas now

    also android 17 back

  • Balmung6

As awesome as it was to see Vegito make a return, I wish they’d done more with him. As it stood, he was more of a time-filler until Trunks could get back up to speed and gather everyone’s energy for the Spirit Bomb Blade. Which was admittedly damn cool.

  • Balmung6

They never really did explain Rose, did they? Assuming it’s another stage of power, but what makes me even more curious is why Black’s Saiyan genetics seems to be set to 11 here. I get that Saiyans get stronger after recovering from near-fatal injuries, but Black was getting stronger almost with every attack combo he took, literally powering up MID-fight. That was never explained. At all.

    • GreatWyrmGold

I feel like the Future Arc could have done well with a few more episodes, giving it the time to expand on and explain (or at least hint at) some of these new things being thrown at us.

    • Reign

Rose is basically the same thing as Blue, only not blue.

      • Balmung6

Then I question why not just make his hair Blue? Him having the same power would have been equally shocking – having something that appears to be a ‘new’ transformation that isn’t any stronger is a bit disappointing, considering it seemed to augment some of his attacks compared to before he transformed. It’s just that we’re gotten so used to ‘new hair color = higher power’ – what with normal hair to golden to red to blue – that when you see a new color, you expect it to be something stronger or different in a way besides color. Just a bit inconsistent is all.

      • NeptuniasBeard

I’m pretty sure it’s the unintended side effect of being an actual deity in a Saiyan meat suit, that and Zamasu’s ki was repeatedly said to be pretty unique, what with his Aura and everything.

      • Balmung6

Could be. Though I still wonder at Black’s apparent ability to power-up mid-fight and seem to take surprisingly little – if any – damage from said attacks.

      • NeptuniasBeard

Well he did seem to take Goku’s body sometime further into the series (long after attaining SSB) so he’s already pretty strong. And he’s powering up while fighting because he was still in the process of breaking his new body in with an opponent who can actually challenge him.

      • Chris Logterman

Did Zamasu aquire a Goku that had reached god form? As far as we know, universe 7 Goku is the only one that had met their God of Destruction. I’m not sure on rose, but I’m assuming, it’s the cause of him being a Kai. Much like Ginyu took Goku’s body, but couldn’t use his techniques or abilities, hence the same thing with the Kai’s. These abilities are all Zamasu’s formed through a new vessel. And since Kai’s don’t have a transformation(or at least none that we’ve seen), but Saiyans do, he is able to exert his God Ki through Goku’s saiyan blood to reach a new Ki multiplyer form. Again, that’s just my assumption.

  • Evan Bakley

I’ve been wondering, which version of Frost’s personality is the more canonical version? The anime’s take where he’s Freeza(for Frieza) with a hero facade, or the manga’s version

    • Balmung6

Aren’t those the same? In both anime and manga, I could have sworn he pretended to be friendly at first before bringing out the poisoned needle.

      • Chaltab

The manga never had anything about him being a space pirate though.

      • Balmung6

True, but it’s possible the manga is just hitting the high points and the anime is filling in the details. Like how Zamasu’s interest in Goku was sparked by the Universe 6-7 Tournament, as in the manga, Goku didn’t tag along with Beerus to fight Zamasu.

    • Invader_Jim

Does it really matter at this point? Neither anime OR manga are canon if you ask me.
Super is merely a high budget fanfic by a senile old man looking to reaffirm is retirement funds…

      • Kaiser

        Wew lad.

  • Balmung6

Given how much Time shenanigans occurred, anything beyond a full Universal reset wasn’t going to resolve the Black/Zamasu situation. Sort of like the Dead Zone Abridged with Krillin – wrote themselves into a corner 😛

That said, him ‘becoming the universe’ wasn’t really explained and didn’t make sense in the slightest.

    • NeptuniasBeard

That’s the thing though, they could’ve easily NOT wrote themselves into a corner by not having Goku forget the talisman for stupid reasons. That way Future Zamasu gets sealed, and then Trunks can just kill Goku Black (maybe after giving the latter one last transformation/power-up). It’s like they intentionally went with the dumbest possible choices just to wring out a few more episodes.

  • Chaltab

The ending of the Trunks arc was frustrating but I kind of think that was the point. It was a Pyrrhic victory for the heroes and the inverse for Zamasu: they beat the bad guy in a manner of speaking, but failed the people they were trying to protect. Zamasu accomplished his dream of a world without mortals, but was destroyed for his efforts. I kind of wonder if it’s not setting something up for the future of the series.

    • Invader_Jim

I hope I am wrong, but I think you are giving AT and Toei waaaay too much credit.

      • Chaltab

Maybe, but I could see at some point towards the end of Super, Zamasu coming back as a living sentient universe or some crazy shit like that. It just seems like a waste for his final defeat to go to Zeno.

      • Invader_Jim

LOL. True, but that little imp erased him for good, no coming back for him I’m afraid.
There are another what, 12 universes to piss fart around with?
I think Zamasu had his time in the sun tbh.

      • Chris Logterman

Being that he was destroyed by the omni king, I’m wondering if he can be resurrected with the Super Dragonballs

  • A Name

You should have compared them with their manga iterations.

    • Invader_Jim

      Nope.

  • Invader_Jim

I find it sad they felt the need to release this video even after explicitly stating they were not including Super because of cunting Nu-Fanz.
In any case they were spot on with pretty much everything, especially about the SoL episodes. Super actually managed to quell my hatred of Satan to the point I allllmost look forward to seein the dumbfuck onscreen.

    edit: typo

  • Ajay Paulose

Am I the only one who thinks Cell would’ve made more sense for the Resurrection arc. They added a lot of new facts about Frieza that were already true for Cell. The fact that he is a natural genius who arguably surpasses Goku in talent is normal because he contains Goku and Vegita’s DNA. The fact that he has never trained a day in his life and if he did he’d grow stronger ridiculously fast due to he combo of namekian healing and saiyan growth. The fact that he naturally has a god form because he’s largely made of saiyan DNA. Would’ve made even more sense if he had to absorb 3 more saiyans (Gohan Goten and Trunks) in order to reach god form. Then he’d have 5 saiyans inside him counting his DNA from Goku and Vegeta.

    • GreatWyrmGold

The difference is, there’s no one alive with any reason to resurrect Cell.

  • The Dood

Take a shot every time Zamasu says “Ningen”

  • Ric Leaman

Might be controversial, but I think Super is better than post “Cell Games” DBZ! Then again, that might have something to do with washing away the GT taste.

    • Ajay Paulose

The otherworld tournament was awful but in my opinion the satan family saves the rest from being bad. Videl makes Gohan’s highschool days kinda hilarious and Mr. Satan’s interactions with Buu prevent him from being as one dimensional as most villains from Super.

  • RandomShinigami7

So I’m gonna be honest here… I didn’t like Supers re-telling of Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. They were pointlessly padded out. Seriously, the God Goku vs Beerus fight in the movie was only about 20 minutes long, and somehow Super managed to stretch that out to… I think it was 10 episodes? And bringing Ginyu back. What was the point? He was only there for half an episode. And all he did was pad out the Resurrection F saga for one more episode.
The Universe 6 saga though, I liked. I didn’t love it, but liked it. And Goku Black, I was really enjoying up until the last 3 or 4 episodes where they just rushed to the end for some reason.
Overall, Super is a very mixed bag in my opinion. I am going to stick with it though, and I hope it improves.

    • Deecks

They pretty clearly point it out in the video that they consider them to be the worst part of the series. Notably, Battle of Gods’s recap making Beerus not as fun, and Resurrection F having the easiest assignment in the world (fix the problems everyone was complaining about in the original movie) and failed it miserably while also taking out the beautiful animation.

  • Aimii Massingham

The only thing that bothers me about Super is how it fits into the continuation of the series, GT was… fanart, but at least it followed the order of things. Buuuuuuut, being a longtime dragonball fan I get dragged back into the frnachise with this series and as long as I think of it as somewhat seperate from the original timeline it doesn’t bother me. But here I’m digressing.
Fanservice, plenty of but it’s nostalgic and cute rather than forced and i especially like the part about Goku reconciling with being a Grandpa, he is by nature a hedonist character and this shows him connecting with his granddaughter on a deeper level than ‘because Chichi made him’.
And again, rambling,,, There’s just so much to say!
    Imma stop now.

  • RandomShinigami7

UK fans (and I think the rest of Europe too), if you’re looking for a legit way to watch Dragon Ball Super, check out http://www.daisuki.net/ . It’s a legal way to watch subbed Super, and other anime, in 1080p. There’s even an iOS app.

    • Bob Roos

How do you get the 1080p? I only get it up to 480p on daisuki. Or is that only on iPhone and not on pc?

      • RandomShinigami7

You can get 1080p on both PC and iOS. I dunno why you’re not getting the option for it. Spotty internet connection maybe? I just checked it right now while downloading something but it’s only letting me use 480p too. But it definitely does have the option for 1080p.

  • Sarah VonSydow

Yeah, no, Imma have to vehemently disagree with ya on Zamasu. Zamasu IS Goku Black. He’s what makes Goku Black INTERESTING. Goku Black is cool and all, but he’s still Zamasu. You can’t pretend they’re different characters, because they aren’t- not really. And that’s what makes him awesome.

    • Ajay Paulose

There is a bit of seperation in the personalities of the Zamasu that stole Goku’s body (Goku Black) and the Zamasu from Trunks’ timeline. Goku Black takes on some saiyan personality traits. It’s not a big difference but it’s enough to view them as separate characters to some extent. Kinda like how kid Trunks and Future Trunks are different characters.

      • GreatWyrmGold

You could use the same argument to say that Buu is three or four different characters, or that Zarbon counts as two.

      • NeptuniasBeard

Not really, Buu really IS multiple characters, Fat, Kid, and Super Buu(who is arguably the same as Evil Buu). And Zarbon… wait, are you really arguing ZARBON!?

      • GreatWyrmGold

He acted differently in his transformed state than his normal state—more savage, less restrained. Unless that’s something TFS made up out of whole cloth.

      • NeptuniasBeard

That still doesn’t make him a totally different person, he’s just more agressive. He’s still Zarbon, he still keeps every aspect of his life before and after the transformation. Goku Black and Future Zamasu are a downplayed version of Trunks/Future Trunks. They have similar ideologies, but they still have several different life experiences that make them act differently in subtle ways. For example, Black was willing to kill Gowasu, will Zamasu was apparantly content to suffer quietly. And as Ajay said above, Black is Zamasu influenced by Saiyan instincts, the main reason he doesn’t wish for immortality.

      • GreatWyrmGold

…That was my original point, yes. Acting a little differently doesn’t mean he’s a different character.

      • NeptuniasBeard

But that argument ONLY applies to characters like Zarbon, who is always one person (who doesn’t really act at all different when transformed anyway, but even if he did he wouldn’t be a different person unless it was a split personality). We’re talking two Zamasu’s from two different timelines, much like Gohan and Trunks

      • GreatWyrmGold

But they work together for the same goals, in the same way, at the same time, with the same personality. If the Ginyus are taken collectively, the Zamases sure as heck should.

    • Chaltab

I think the fact that Black is clearly affected by Goku’s Saiyan blood is part of what sets him apart. He’s not just Zamasu, he’s Zamasu with the passion for fighting of a Saiyan.

    • Chris Logterman

The only thing that makes them different is one is the already awakened rage at mortals, and the other is acting on what he felt inside, because this other Zamasu has shown up and validated it.

  • Fishy Despoiler

honestly the only thing of DragonballSuper that i really dont like is the way they treat Frieza. Seriously he become just a Garlic Jr 2.0. He re-appear for a saga, he got defeated and never come again. It’s Frieza ! I cant afford to see the greastest villain of all DragonBall being treated like Filler Villain. Of course, better this way that turn him good that will be an equivalent of destroy one of my childhood monument but i cant not still feel somewhat dissatisfied with the way they treat him.

  • Carlos Neto

To be fair with Toriyama, the Super Saiyajin Blue Kaioken doesn’t happen in the manga. Also, the manga (as far as I know anyway) is still way behind in comparison to the series. And, as most of we know, the manga is the original story!

    • Ryan Nicholson

Not really since the manga isn’t done by toriyama himself but by toyotaro Toriyama only gave both toei and Toyotaro a manuscript and let’s them decide on what happens so both the anime and manga can be both considered cannon in this case. As a manga purist this is the only time I except this.

      • Carlos Neto

Well, I’m not confortable with that. Manga usually has more quality, not sure why (probably because it demands less tecnical aspects and less people interfering in the production), but I still consider the manga the source. Just hoping that what happened to Fullmetal Alchemist doesn’t happen with Dragon Ball!

      • Graem

They also cuss more, but that’s neither here nor there.

      • Invader_Jim

I am just shattered that Toyotaro won’t ever complete DBAF due to his well deserved success.

  • Dreadkos_Otherworld★

I agree pretty much with everything, except some stuff with Zamasu and his arc. Merely on a personal level, I still agree with every technical point you guys made.
But I really liked Zamasu and LOVED the ending.
From when Vegeth appears to the legit ending with Zeno, I think that’s my favourite segment of Super and some really cool writing concepts.
Overall, great analysis guys, full of your personal opinions and yet impartial: keep up the good work.

  • YFNEF

What do you MEAN, Kirran? Vegeta is ALWAYS jelly.

    • Aimii Massingham

Grape from the looks or it. Or maybe blackcurrant?

  • SwedishX

Was the Super Kaioken in the Tournament Arc really such an ass pull? It’s not like it hasn’t been explored before, albeit in filler. Also funnily enough during the final fight of another tourney. Huh. Anyway, it didn’t feel so out of place, especially compared to the stuff in the Goku Black Arc.

    Great video, guys!

  • Marco Faber

Great thing, guys! Really great to see, you enjoy the series, too! 🙂
And even if it has it flows, it´s still a great series, so far. And the series isn´t even close to finish yet!

Love to see DBS Content on your Channel! 🙂

  • Troy Sanders

“Super is not a bad series…. *after the movie recaps*” Okay, that was funny. Best joke.

    • Toraekko

It’s not really a bad series tho

      • Troy Sanders

It isn’t, but the movie recaps are subpar at best.

    • Chaltab

It’s not really a joke. Those movie recaps were terrible.

      • Kaiser

I liked the Resurrection F one. The Battle of Gods one took all the most defining moments of the movie – Goku not noticing he’d lost God form and still fighting, the final struggle where he recreates the God form for a split second, Beerus showing that gods keep their words by -actually destroying Earth- (But just a tiny tiny bit of it)… All gone.

Instead, we got Beerus pointing out that Goku lost his god form almost immediately, we got Goku getting ‘knocked out of the sky’ and beaten down what, 3? 4 times? And Beerus =breaking= his word by faking falling asleep (and then taking an actual nap).

It utterly ruined the best parts of the movie, including the fight scene.

Resurrection F, on the other hand, while it did drag on in places, the Ginyu part just made it 100 times better than the movie. Ginyu carried that arc, hands down.

      • Troy Sanders

I know they were terrible, but that line is still a joke. Sure it’s saying that the movie recaps, but being phrased as a sarcastic aside makes it obvious it was intended to make people laugh.

  • Ramsay Bolton

Dude…you gotta stop saying “Gokuuuuu”. It’s “Goku”. Emphasis on the “o”. End of story.

    • Turkey Vulture

Kaiser’s using the proper Japanese pronunciation of his name; accentuating the “o” in “Goku” is a mispronunciation from Funimation’s 1995 dub of Dragon Ball that just happened to stick.

    • Dreadkos_Otherworld★

Not saying they can’t be wrong, but I feel one could try and undertand the other’s position instead of assuming an “end of story” stance.
They are people knee-deep into Dragon Ball, Kaiser first and foremost, perhaps there is a reason why he says it like that, no?

      • Turkey Vulture

Kaiser said in an episode breakdown that he grew up with the Japanese version of Dragon Ball, not the English one, so saying “Go-KUU” instead of “GO-ku” feels more natural to him.

    • Toraekko

Seriously? the way you’re saying is wrong not Kaiser, you should learn the correct way of pronunciation not him.

      • Invader_Jim

Doesn’t make it any less annoying to hear. If he was such a purist, he would be pronouncing all the names in some retarded way.

That said, I don’t hear anyone else pronounce it like that, I think maybe once or twice in the original and I think Gokuuuuuuuuuu was said as a question, not as someone speaking to him.

      • SierraLarson

“once or twice in the original” As in the Japanese version, right?

You were probably just not paying enough attention. Goku’s name in Japanese is Goh-koo-oo. Three syllables, two on the “kuu”. Usually lengthened vowels like that have emphasis on them. I mean, that may not be the case with all words, but I find that’s usually how it is. (For example, “oKAAsan”, “OOsaka”, “BeJIIta”)

      • Invader_Jim

Not so much not paying attention as opposed to going from terribad memory from over 15 years ago when I initially watched it.

Because I know and you are correct and I have nothing better to do with my time I re-watched both this video and numerous episodes in Japanese in order to properly compare the actual pronunciation.
(plus the 1st Broly movie, Jeeesus that is bad. Can’t wait to see how TFS improve it)

Both Kaiser and the Japanese tend to only inflect on the third syllable when it is usually at the end of a sentence or when it is said on it’s own, so I have come to the conclusion that because it isn’t his native tongue, that when he does it, it seems to stand out significantly more, like he is adding occasionally adding a third U. Maybe my hearing is rooted, but that’s how it sounds to me.
Fucken hell I was bored today.

Huh. I haven’t seen Bejiita written in quite a while, for some reason I felt the need to point that out…

      • Kaiser

Kaiser grew up with Japanese subbed Dragon Ball if I remember right, so he IS pronouncing it how he always heard it.

        ____
STANDARD DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT KAISERNEKO

      • Scott “KaiserNeko” Frerichs

I do pronounce every character how they’re supposed to be pronounced. Trunks and Piccolo are English words. Goku is Japanese, and he’s written with Gokuu in the kana. As such, it’s pronounced the way I say it. If you don’t like it, fine. Don’t expect me to change though.

      • Invader_Jim

You have been saying it from the get go so no, expecting you to change was never on the cards.

      • Mike Alkire

“Seriously? the way you’re saying is wrong not Kaiser, you should learn the correct way of pronunciation not him.”

Not everyone who loves the Dragonball franchise is an insufferable weeb like you, you know. Stop shoving your pretentious, egocentric, condescending, irritatingly full-of-crap, elitist, puritan bullshit down everyone else’s throat like you’re better than me. I prefer the Dragonball series in English, preferably ever since Funimation’s mostly current cast up from the post-Ocean re-runs, through Kai and on to now. I always have, always will, consider it MY definitive version, do NOT care about, nor do I listen to the Japanese version, personally do not like the Japanese voices whether or not they ARE the original voices, and to ME, Dragonball’s English dub is what I care about and only what I care about. And that’s my right.

You do not get to shove your pretentious crap onto me and dictate what I or anyone else “must pronounce”. You will shut up with that nonsense. You do it your way and I will do it mine, but you will NOT act as if I or anyone else is beneath you because I say “Goku” like the English word “Goku.”. Get off your high horse and get over yourself.

I have had to put up with insufferably obnoxious, elitist, puritan, snotty, stuck-up, disgusting “anime purist fanboys” like you for YEARS while just trying to enjoy what I enjoy. You can speak for yourself all you want, but you will NOT speak FOR me, or speak DOWN to me. That is not what is going to go down here. Thank you.

      • Toraekko

What? If you’re not willing to learn the Japanese way then why will Kaiser learn the eng way?? I was speaking for Kaiser not about me trying to shove my opinion down you’re throat…-_- IDGAF in which way you watch the show just don’t correct Kaiser just because he prefers the Jap way.

      • Scott “KaiserNeko” Frerichs

“Goku” is Japanese, and it’s written “Gokuu” in the kana. As such, it’s pronounced the way I say it. If you don’t like it, fine. I understand. But I’m saying it right, no matter how wrong it sounds to you. Just like you’re also saying it right, because of how they localized the name.

Also, calm down. We’re all friends here.

      • AODQ

haha holy shit you are salty as fuck

    • Scott “KaiserNeko” Frerichs

      Nope.

“Goku” is Japanese, and it’s written “Gokuu” in the kana. As such, it’s pronounced the way I say it. If you don’t like it, fine. Don’t expect me to change though.

  • Riax

I totally agree with Kirran, having the kioken and Super Saiyan was a child dream fullfilled

  • Reign

I love Zamasu. He’s not just my favorite Super villain so far, he’s one of my favorites (if not my absolute favorite) DB villains overall. I think it’s because he was just so DIFFERENT from everyone before him. He was a JRPG villain through and through, and it breathed some new breath into the franchise.

    • GreatWyrmGold

Like Baby, Zamasu deserves a spot among the best Dragon Ball villains simply for having a motivation beyond “I’m evil, and I want power so I can do more evil stuff”. Unlike Baby, his motivations inform his actions, and he has a distinct personality. Also style, Zamasu has style. It’s hard to say without seeing the rest of Super to determine the long-term impact, but I feel that Zamasu deserves a spot in any top 10 Dragon Ball villain list, and he’s my personal favorite.

  • Jeevan Thomas

I agree wholeheartedly with the whole video. Super is definitely a mixed bag of moments that can be tainted and skewed by nostalgia googles. But it is still a good show. With a new arc on the horizon, let’s hope that DBS learns from its mistakes.

..So…. is Hit the U6 analog to Guldo, the way Frost was to Frieza?

    • Ramsay Bolton

Hit’s power is also in par with Goku and Vegeta in addition to the time-skip. Guldo was a weakling who relied only on stopping time.

      • Chaltab

Plus Guldo could stop time for as long as he could hold his breath, while Hit only got up to like half a second.

      • GreatWyrmGold

On the other hand, Hit doesn’t need to hold his breath.
Which version is better? It depends more on how you use it than the details of the power. Hit’s better at using his time-stopping.

    • I would say Hit is the upgraded Guldo. Though if Guldo got proper training, I’d love a Guldo vs Hit fight. It’d be like Jotaro vs Dio, just with a purple alien dude and a little green alien ball-thing.

  • TrueWOPR

    Wow, I’m early!

  • KingCroc

Really awesome to finally see you guys talking about Super, even if I don’t agree with all of your thoughts. I agree that the movie recaps were pretty bad and unnecessary, but I disagree with the idea that Beerus was lessened by his recap, to me it still felt in line with his character. The Universe 6 arc was fantastic to me, with there being very little I disliked about it. I enjoyed the Goku Black arc more than most people, although I can see that it has several problems. Lastly, I really liked Zamasu and personally thought he was really interesting, and Goku Black himself feels like a character that will remain popular based on looks and actions alone, sort of like a better version of most movie villains.
