After succeeding in their mission, Cloud, Barret and the rest of Avalanche return to their HQ to discuss their next plan of action. Cloud, on the other hand, has a few choice words he’d like to say to his friend that got him roped into all of this…Tifa. See how it all goes down on FF7MA!

FF7 came out in 1997 on the Sony Playstation and has since been a main stay to the series for fans all over the world. Join Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barret & Red XIII in this new TeamFourStar abridged series!

So I’ll be damned. Cloud and Tifa have some awesome banter together. I have to say Tifa’s lines and dialogue/delivery saved not just this episode but possibly the series.
I didn’t mind the prison jokes; those were actually funny ^_^

  • Rubyweapon14

Great work on this video. I think it’s clear that blonde [email protected] up is going to be a thing. But you only listed some of the characters in the description above. Does that mean the others wont be in the series or do you not have voice actors yet? If you need actors, I would love to be part of the cast.

Did not choose this name just because of the show, ironic as it is. If you take up my offer about voicing a character let me know. P.S. I’m a dude 😀

  • Tower

While I’m all for Hard-ass Tifa and Inept, post revelation personality Cloud, hopefully they balance out the interaction in future because she was more of a see you next tuesday than friend making sex jokes this episode.
They made prison jokes about Krillin in DBZA (Maron) but those were funny rather than time-consumingly self-indulgent.

Having said that, even if they keep that style of interaction though I wIll manage. They’ve made some solid gold already. Muffled Jessie, Squalls, Zack and Barrett are awesome.
it’s definitely growing on me faster than DBZA. I never watched much of the original DBZ so I wasn’t really interested until Nappa and Vegeta showed up. .

  • xedalpha

Please tell me there is more to come and the creators weren’t put off by a few people complaining about a joke or two. The best stuff is clearly by far still to come. “Tifa the Liar” had me in stitches btw.

    • Tower

I got the impression they did the first season up front and they are releasing weekly until the end of Season 1 to give them time for next season.
Nothing confirmed that I’ve seen though

  • Gravity cat

I’m not a huge fan of Final Fantasy (mostly because I wasn’t fortunate enough to play the games as a kid) but I can get behind this. This is pretty funny.

    • Maj Jaeger

I’m right there with ya, never played the FF myself, but have seen it played at friends’ houses. But this is pretty funny.

      • Tri-Blade

It’s actually super accessible. Each number title is a separate world with separate rules, characters, stories and gameplay mechanics. Anything with the same roman numeral in it (X-2, XIII-2, Crisis Core FF VII) are in that same retrospective universe, but a subseries to it.

  • Streetguru

Hmm..I mean it’s not bad, but it’s not super great, Ima go with fairly acceptable at this point.

  • I can´t see the video, when ever i try to see the video , the video player makes the little loading thing and it stays that way for ever

Is there something wrong or does my not handle this type of video player?

  • Manami

this really isn’t taking off well.

  • TheGreatEscapist

Yeah, I highly recommend avoiding the use of rape jokes at any given opportunity.
HOWEVER I trust it’s foreshadowing for that infamous moment in the game when Cloud has to go to a spa, and… well, he and a bunch of speedo-clad muscular men… take a jacuzzi together. (Yeah, we’ll go with that.) Or in an effort to rescue Tifa Cloud disguising himself as a hot girl to appease the appeal of a crime lord…
In that regard the game was pretty messed up on its own.

And I really look forward to seeing more of this series.

  • homo_moose

now just to wait for a ff9 series.

  • theeshyguy

I still fail to see the point of this series…

    • KaiserNeko

Someone wanted to have fun making a comedy series out of something they enjoy and other people enjoy.

      • NaoSou

        Sounds reasonable.

      • Deadbeat Doom

        UNACCEPTABLE!!!

    • Streetguru

Someone actually already made FF7 abridged a good while ago, 3 years in fact.

  • athroughzdude

There’s always the three other options: C) End it all to end the suffering. D) Betray them to Shinra. E) Kill everyone and walk away.

    • Thelost_miner

A few questions 1. do i get any significant rewards from be traying them?
      2. If i kill them all, do i at least get some xp from it?

      • razord9

No and no. Explanation for the first one, it’s Shinra. They are pretty much the legion of doom with Reeves there for reasons, why would you expect anything but being killed/imprisoned, which the lovely Tifa already explained the downside of being imprisoned. Explanation for the second one, Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie barely count as anything and Barret might be consider a boss fight in which you will get none.

  • SuperSatan5

Gotta say I thin the best part of this episode is that the main reason Cloud stays with Avalance, Is that he will not get a haircut.

    • Thelost_miner

      ya

  • Remix

I haven’t played FF7 since early middle, or maybe late elementary school, so I don’t want to make any comments on how they chose to alter the characters. It’s not a criticism I think matters at this point. But, what I do want to say is that in terms of jokes, I think that leaning more on the visual side of it, relying a little bit less on the dialogue for the humor, would be more effective on both ends – both on character and the jokes. That way, they can maybe focus a bit more on establishing and fleshing out the characters through dialogue, and the visual humor to do a bit more on the jokey side of things.

(Visual Element: Physical character action, visual stylings like the name-screens, attack menus, televisions, etc.)

I think this show has a really unique visual style that has a lot of potential and offers the writing a lot more versatility than you might think.

  • They fucked up not Cloud
Tifa really should be nicer with him and trust him more considering she is in love with him
They make fun of him and yet he is the most competent of them all

    • Turin747

Eh. I don’t mind Tifa being a dick. She did have a feisty side and I prefer her that way. I’m fine with Barret as well.

The whole thing with Cloud just isn’t working.

      • DevilHunter1994

I think works fine. They just skipped Cloud’s badass phase and went right to making fun of his true personality, you know the one where he tries to be cool but is actually kind of a goof.

      • Turin747

You mean his “Let’s mosey” phase? Sure he’s different but I never imagined him like that. He’s basically just less of a dick.

Oh well. This isn’t worth a large argument. If that’s how they want to do it then that’s fine. It’s just a meh weird to me.

        FVIIR is still coming.

      • Turin747

        *a bit meh* to me

  • Buio

Not sure why cloud is scared of prison after cutting his way through a platoon of armed guards to get back on the train.

    • Turin747

Yeah. That one bothered me a bit. The show’s already lacking Kaizer’s meticulousness.

    • DevilHunter1994

You know that could be setting up for a joke later.

(Cloud and the others get captured by Shinra and yet still have all their gear)

Cloud: Hey we still have our stuff! We could probably just break out tomorrow morning if we felt like it. Man these guys are stupid!

Tifa: Yeah looks like you didn’t need to worry about prison after all.

Cloud: No kidding. I could have just broken out right away and I wouldn’t have even needed to…….join……Avalanche. Oh FUCK me!

      Tifa: Sorry, not into blonds.

Cloud: YOU KNOW I DIDN’T MEAN YOU!

    • bernied

Still doesn’t really make sense. Smashes a ton of guards np, giant crying bitch when he gets back? Sorta get the swing at slap stick, but don’t you think he would be a little more cocky, or funny?..or something.

      • DevilHunter1994

I think they are just skipping Cloud’s badass phase and jumping right to making fun of his original personality. Remember that the true Cloud isn’t really a badass. He’s kind of a wimp. He puts on a brave face for everyone and makes himself appear to be confident, but in private he’s plagued with doubts. He never saw himself as a hero or a leader, but he does his best to play the part of one. That’s exactly what this Cloud is like. He acts all cool while on the mission and brags about the fact that he was in soldier, but in private with Tifa his true personality comes out.

  • theeshyguy

    Omg! Lyle McDouchebag!

  • Amara

Great first start, very funny tounge-in-cheek teasing of a fan favorite with lots of fun forshadowing and references. I’m *really* looking forward to the future.

  • Kainzorus Prime

“There’s my Wingless Angel” OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH SHIT, SON. Foreshadowing.

  • Not bad, guys. I had a feeling i heard my lovely nowacking in there, which is what i’m sure cloud will be repeating to himself several times in prison… anyhow, i always loved final fantasy games, and 7 was prrrrimo. But please, at least try to make the jokes more satirical on the actual personalities involved, sorta like DBZA. like the jesse wanting to f**k cloud joke, priceless. more of that. like barret ripping off his spikey head and killing him with his hair… eh. i appreciate you guys sticking to the script of the game, but there is sooo much more that could be done. and don’t worry about keeping the jokes tasteful. if it’s funny, put it all up in there. that’s what i always say, and i ALWAYS find it funny ;D

  • Panbuukin

Loved the first episode, but am ambivalent to the second. It’s clear that you guys haven’t quite found your footing with this yet, and the writing is a little sloppy in regards to characterization. As for the humor, eh, I could take it or leave it. I thought the rape joke wasn’t that bad (albeit low brow) but it was funnier when Barret chipped in at the end. I think people are being a bit sensitive in that regard, and maybe forgetting some of TFS’ other low brow jokes (Cell’s abortion anyone?)

That said, while it’s kind of rough around the edges, I do see some potential here. I thought Barret was written well , and the voice acting was solid. Given time, I think this will shape up to be great entertainment. It just needs some fine tuning, much like DBZA did in it’s first season.

    • Bronnt

Cell’s abortion was funny. I laughed out loud. Loved the delivery: Krillin is setting up the dilemma and then just says “Eff it, dropping the pretenses, we’re aborting him.”

This rape joke is treated like it’s the height of humor, and it’s not funny. The whole joke is “You’d get raped in prison.”

For rape jokes that are kind of funny, see imperfect Cell’s characterization in DBZA. He’s constantly making uncomfortable euphamism “Come again?” “Give me 5 minutes,” until people are eventually just shouting at him “STOP IT!”

I like dark humor, but it needs to be funny. Funnier to me would be Barrett joking about Cloud becoming someone’s prison girlfriend, and then Tifa joking “Girlfriend? Nobody’s desperate enough to put up with his whining.” Well, okay, that’s still not funny…but it’s closer.

  • NamelessOnE

Some of the jokes are bad. How ever they are better the ones I ever make so let them have at it. I just can’t wait to see what they do with Rufus. Out of all the badguys in games. He is still ranked fairly high in my list of corporate douche bags. Leading prize goes to Wesker due the fact he isn’t human. lol

  • xedalpha

I really did not see this coming. What did I do to deserve this bounty? FFVII abridged!

    • xedalpha

In addition, some clearly cannot see the whole 4 dudes thing/cloud lookng like a girl is more than likely just a setup for a future joke (I’m thinking the crossdressing cloud/bathouse scene is when the payoff will come)

  • therealslimshady

not as funny as i thought it would be
also why not just work on dbza?

    • drazil

First of all DBZA sucked its first few episodes that it took them to get the groove of the show so give it some time.

and secondly they said this was edited by someone different than the guy who edits DBZA so this does not slow down the process of making DBZA

  • FFXFANATIC

If you want the original characters, play the fucking game.

  • Foul_Slime

Two episodes in and I’m already hooked. Laughing my ass off the whole time, very much looking forward to more. And to all those who are complaining that the characters are behaving differently in this than the game, except Barret, and how in DBZ Abridged they kept the characters relatively similar, understand what they’re working with.

Cloud was an emotionless emo who pretty much went “Meh” for a lot of the game. A comedy series with that guy as the protagonist would be a nightmare. Sure he’s a wimp but its still funny.

Tifa in the game was super helpful and cheerful, trying to encourage Cloud and such. Now, she’s a vulgar hard-ass, telling him to man the hell up,manipulative and unsympathetic to his whining. I’d rather have a bass-ass Tifa than one that’s more reserved and timid, despite the fact that she can still kick ass. Now, she can kick ass but with the intensity of a psycho, hence “Your metal dick is mine motherfucker!” from the trailer.

And Barret? They didn’t change Barret because there is no earthly reason to, he’s comedy gold, was in the original game and is here as well.

All in all, it’s just the same debate that’s going to rage when the Remake comes out, they are going to change thing and people are going to whine. In this context, remember that TFS is putting their own spin on a classic, which means it might not line up with the expectations of a super fan of the game. Also remember that they don’t have to do any of this, period. DBZA, Hellsing, this, they could just say fuck it tomorrow, it was fun, see you guy’s later. They are bringing new content with projects from franchises that they love, or love making fun of, because they love to do it. They want to please their fans and all the fans seem to do is throw it back at them, “When’s the next episode of DBZA coming out?” or “This new series sucks, stop wasting time on this and focus on DBZA” or “When’s Hellsing coming out? I’ve been waiting for ever” or “This is different, I don’t like different, RHAAAAGGG!!!”

Not all fans are this way of course and not all comments are worthless. For example, if you’re just posting a comment about how this isn’t your cup of tea, that’s fine, I’m sure that this series won’t be for everyone. But those that piss and moan about how it sucks, how it’s different, then don’t watch it. They are going to keep making it, many of us WANT them to continue making it, especially when it DOESN’T cut into their DBZA schedule.

And considering how freakin’ long this game actually is, there is going to be a ton of episodes, abridged or not. Meaning, if you didn’t think this episode was a funny as the previous one, don’t be like, “This episode sucks, the whole series is probably going to suck, I’m going to stop watching.” First, I’m not even going to point out the idiocy of that statement and simply tell you, that sure, if you are going to stop watching, then do it; why the hell are you telling us? I don’t care if you don’t watch it. You won’t I will, and I’ll fucking love it.

In closing, love the new series TFS, don’t change a damn thing, wanting more already and sorry for taking up so much space with this pseudo-rant. Cheers and whatnot.

    • FlareKnight

I think you are going too far in trying to defend the weak points of this.

You acknowledge the problems, but try to act like they had no other choice. They did. Cloud early in the game was an arrogant piece of work. You telling me that this group, couldn’t make comedy out of that? They’ve been writing Vegeta for how many years now?

So because you enjoy what they did with Tifa it’s fine if they completely depart from her character? So if they do the same in DBZ Abridged you won’t mind either right? Tifa is someone early in the game trying not to lose someone who has come back into her life while balancing out the very real concerns that this might not really be him. Plus she’s a character who beats the crap out of machines with her fists. They didn’t need to depart much to make that work.

And no, I don’t think this is the debate you’ll get with the remake unless the writers really suck for it. They will change some things (though most of that will just be because they will have a better translation this time), but I don’t see them losing all contact with who each character was.

If you don’t want to read contrary opinions….you might want to avoid comment sections the rest of your life. It’s fine to be a Team 4 Star fan, but being a blind Team 4 Star fanboy is another thing entirely. If you want people to be mindless sheep, it isn’t going to happen. If people like something they will say so. If they don’t, the won’t say that they do. Nothing good comes from people blindly supporting things. It may shock you, but the people involved in this are human. As such they do great things, and they make mistakes.

    • Look, I’m huge TFS fan, but don’t get me wrong, I’m also a HUGE FFVII fan. Now, I very excited for this project and I had high expectations, but it didn’t reach it. The problem isn’t with characters, it’s with the humor. I dunno about you, but I think the humor felt kinda forced…I mean the jokes weren’t funny at all! I dunno if it’s just me, but I just don’t get why people found this “hilarious”. Again, it’s not the characters, because I liked the idea of Cloud being “such a loser” and Tifa being a “crazy bitch”, the problem is that it seems like they don’t know how to use it properly. Come on, don’t tell me they can’t do better! Do you think they can’t? Well, think they do, because this series does not meet TFS standards. Well remember how the first episodes of DBZA weren’t that funny either, so maybe it’s just a matter of time. I won’t drop it, because I still believe in TFS, so please, If you’re reading it, surprise me and give me all you’ve got. Sorry for being too harsh, but I had to say this. Thanks for entertain us.

  • mathex14

Hurr! durrr! rape jokes! Come on guys! You are TeamFourStar! Where is the originality you guys have? Now for the serious talk, I never played any final fantasy, but I gotta say, this isn’t that bad, but yeah the protagonist is too much like krillin, and people are saying he’s not like this in the game, even tough I haven’t played the game, I don’t think it’s a good idea to completly destroy a character personality and make a new one for a abridged series, I mean it worked with Nappa and super kami guru, but you guys shouldn’t do this with the protagonist, maybe if was a really funny idea, but it isn’t imo, I mean, it’s ok the group avalanche hate cloud, but if he’s badass in the game, he should at least not be a total wimp like he was on this episode, I mean like crying and shit.

And even if he wasn’t badass in the game, it still isn’t funny the way you guys made him to be, at least not for me, it’s like he was trying to be funny, or even, trying to be krillin….

But this series is only starting, I hope it gets better :D, I think you guys can do better than that, specially ,better than simple rape jokes, well…. good luck!

    • Nerethos

      TRIGGERED

    • sproly

lmao its not a joke though. That cloud WILL get raped in prison. its more of a fact than anything.

    • Bronnt

It’s not the fact that it was a rape joke that got me-I can handle dark humor. It just wasn’t a funny rape joke. Like…they got close to making a joke out of with Cloud’s hair, but it still didn’t even draw a grin from me. If the crazy hair had been established a bit earlier with people observing “Dude, seriously, WTF is with your hair,” and it came back to the hair ending up in the rape joke, it might have worked.

This episode just wasn’t very funny to me. Cloud’s kind of a whiny schmuck…and that’s the whole joke. Barrett is a big, kinda crazy guy who yells a lot, and that’s the whole joke.

It just seems like there’s a bit more humor material here. When Barrett threw people out of the bar, in the game, wasn’t he hosing the air with bullets? Seems like you could do a lot of material based on how ax-crazy this guy is.

I think they need to do a better job of establishing a straight man. Maybe it’s supposed to be Cloud, where he’s like, “Every WORD of that was terrorism” (which is the closest thing this episode got to making me laugh), but it’s still not quite working. If you’re going to depart from the plotting of the video game, you also need characters to behave somewhat consistently if you’re going to utilize any situational humor. Barrett tried to ditch Cloud last episode, but now he’s trying to talk him into joining, despite whining about how much of a fuck-up he is. It’s like he only does that because it’s what happens in the game. But you could go so many different ways with that-you could have Barrett getting the idea that they’re going to turn Cloud in for a bounty, or maybe Cloud whines and begs to let him use their “hide-out” and they go along with it to get him to shut up (if you’re going to keep up the emo-whiny characterization).

At least, early in DBZ abridged, there was some fourth-wall humor, which was amusing enough. I’m actually rooting for them to make something funny out of this-it has a lot of potential humor aside from even the obvious jokes (why are we racing chocobos when the world is going to end in two days?). A much better way of doing this is to ditch this whiny wimpy Cloud and make him more of a straight man who is a magnet for crazy people-Aerith becomes an airhead, Yuffie is this weirdo ninja-thief, Cid is uncomfortably misogynistic and Red XIII is some kind of weird talking beast. Then Cloud can gradually wonder why he’s surrounded by all this insanity when he really just wants is to get in Tifa’s pants and then pursue his dream of being a sailor or something. It needs some material to actually have humor.

      • The issue here is that the jokes are TOO obvious! Blonde Zack? Seriously TFS! Like Barret said: Try something different! How many times have this joke been made? Even Jessie’s quirky was lame, I’d say more irritanting than funny. Remenber, the funniest jokes come from the most random ideas. Also you could’ve made something with the others AVALANCHE members. Just use your creativity.

  • JackVII

ok fer surious that was amazaballs plz plz dont listin to these fanbrats with way to much of a boner for cloud and there only complaining about “rape” jokes because it sounds worse then it really is i find the man rape jokes of jail halarious and more than appropriate FFFFFFFUCK these negitive comments if someone was like
“”hay edvard munch your paintings show too much passsion i feel they endorse rape culture and white privilege and it doesnt have enough fadora can you change your artistic view because some of us have such tight pants our balls are now just in our assholes?” your amazing lions dont concern themselves with the opinions of sheep. PS to really get these fanbois goin have sephiroths voice match zarbons

    • King Quasar

Judging by your English abilities the crew at TFS should really listen to you!

  • dennise1

    Love it. Funny stuff.

  • Yusagi

It was hard to enjoy this one because the player just kept on resetting every thirty seconds to a minute. Maybe when I see it on another player I’ll be able to experience it properly. It was enjoyable, though. I presume Cloud is actually more of the straightman of the series, who also happens to be a bit of a screw up. And emotional, because Cloud. He just came off as ‘weakling with no willpower’ because Tifa stomps all over him (when interacting with the rest of AVALANCHE, he doesn’t).

That said, I think it’s clear that they’re abriding more the fandom/generally accepted concepts of the characters, not their direct game version. Because after fifteen or so years, people mostly know of the characters through fandom and references to them, not from playing the original game. When people think of Tifa, they think of strong, independent, and tough, not shy and insecure. When people think of Cloud, it’s ‘whiny emo boy’ or ’emotionless terminator guy’, not the cocky jerk that he is for a fairly short amount of time. Thus, it makes sense to abridge that (even though it’s a shame Aeris will probably be a bit of an airhead ala Crisis Core because of this, rather than the clever and flirtatious girl she is in the game). Barret seems ‘normal’ because his character was already so ridiculous that fandom doesn’t get him all that wrong anyway.

Besides familiarity and accessibility, it’s just more amusing to abridge those personalities than use their game persona. And…prison rape jokes are nothing new to TFS. It’s black comedy.

tl;dr it was fun, but it was hard to judge fairly because of the weird error I encountered.

    • MikeGrahm

Pretty much my thoughts on it. They’ll find their leverage.

  • Starwind0888

    Everyone is so mean to Cloud ;_;

  • Xx_Setsuna_xX

This show is like the greatest thing to happen in the history of everything, hell this sight is the greatest thing in the history of everything 😀 4 guys, dat hair

  • Mal

Hey guys? Do yourself a favor and ignore the sensitive fanboys.
This shit’s way better than keeping the (admittedly kind of shitty) characters how they were–especially for a parody. People like to act like Cloud or Tifa are really deep engaging characters, but they really aren’t. And there isn’t a lot of comedy to make out of them, and something tells me you understood that.
    Do you. Ignore the Haters.

    • FlareKnight

So…should they just ignore your opinion because you are their fanboy?

You act like any disagreement about the direction they are going in is just fanboy whining. So then why is your support of it anything more than pointless fanboy cheering?

  • DomonKasshu

I don’t think I like this very much, to be honest. Cloud’s too much of a wimp, Barret’s kind of an asshole, and Tifa’s way too vulgar. In DBZ Abridged, everyone’s peronalities are flanderized, but most of them aren’t really all that far from their original personalities (Goku’s a nice guy but not very smart and likes food and training, Vegeta’s agressive and self-righteous and thinks he’s better than everyone else, etc.), and they manage to be funny most of the time. Here though, they are nothing like their original selves. Cloud’s supposed to start out cocky and confident, Barret’s supposed to be agressive but ultimately a nice guy, and Tifa’s supposed to be shy and kind. It’s hard to enjoy a parody if you basically turn everyone into completely different characters. And the jokes just aren’t funny to me either. Two episodes, and not so much as a chuckle. And a rape joke? Really guys?

If you can address these problems in the future, that would be swell. But as it stands currently, I can’t say that I have high hopes for this series at all.

    • mathex14

Yeah…. rape jokes are just boring, they are simple and unintelligent, also it isn’t original at all(I know some people like it, and that’s okay, to each their own), it was funny when zarbon did it because he didn’t really meant it, without talk about his looks and the way he talks lol, but this was just like a dumb movie….. I say the same as you, the jokes weren’t really good, let alone memorable like in DBZA, there’s really nothing cool to quote on this episode like people enjoy doing on DBZA episodes

  • Kaliaila

The first episode, I thought was great. This one however was extremely disappointing. You went from a funny episode that was based around the actual story of FF7 to an episode based around rape jokes which weren’t really funny.

Barret seems to be the only one who is actually characterized even close to the original. The rest may as well be original characters in this episode. This episode has pretty much lowered my expectations for the rest of this series about as far as can be when it comes to characterization and the type of humor that will be used.

  • Turin747

Cloud’s characterization really isn’t working. He’s like some schmuck out of a 90’s sitcom. I thought they would have worked the “sarcastic jerk” angle which is basically what Cloud is in the game.

What DBZ-Abridged does so well is maintaining the characters core themes and attributes while making them suitable for comedy. Cloud’s not even Cloud here.

    • Kaliaila

      My thoughts exactly.

      • Kaliaila

The whole schmuck thing here might work later in the series when he is actually facing what his past was really like but not here at the start of it.

  • GodlikeVegeta

love it but seriously get cloud to take out his balls out of tifa’s purse and GET a FUC&@#$ badass attitude plz!!

  • Didn’t like the rape jokes. I know this is a parody but Cloud being that much of a wimp kinda strayed too far from his actual character. He can act kinda stupid which is fine but please don’t make him act too much like a sissy. Apart from that I hope to see more !

    • Mal

The Edgy Emo Crybaby Prettyboy? Becaaaauuuse yeah no. That would not have been entertaining to watch in the slightest.

  • ZeroMew08

Now I feel like wanting to play FF7 again. Good thing I can play it on my PS3. Way to fill me with nostalgia, TFS. 😀

But yeah, it might take some time and a few episodes for people unfamiliar with FF7 to warm up to this series, but keep up with the entertaining content.

PS: So, I guess Cloud’s not gonna be a prison bitch like Vegeta?

    • Kaliaila

It might take just as long or longer for people extremely familiar with FF7 to warm up to it again after this episode.

  • DarkRepulser

Just imagine if Cloud would have gotten caught by the police and everything Tifa had explained actual went down. That would probably be the most hilarious scene of all time

  • Doctor_sir

I have to say, this writing is hilarious! I was not convinced that this series would: a) actually happen given the amount of content TFS already produces, and b) be entertaining.

  • chantelle12

Being a major fan of Final Fantasy and especially FFVII I have to say that…… I am completely happy that you guys decided to do an abridged series on the game. And I feel that a lot of people are complaining on how they decided to write the series. But I for one am glad that they are doing this as a side project while they finish DBZ episodes. Can’t we all just be satisfied that at least they are trying to keep us entertained while we wait on the next episode?

  • NCHaskew

Yeah, I gotta admit….this is pretty funny, but I wouldn’t make this your main series after you finish DBZ Abridged. I mean, I really like Barret, but you may have overly-pussed Cloud (though I’ve never even touched a Final Fantasy game.)
Not to mention DBZ Abridged is what inspired me to watch through the Dragon Ball series, but at the same time, I didn’t feel obligated to have seen the original series in order to understand the characters or story. Here it’s like the opposite. I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of the content, but I don’t feel the urge to go grab a Playstation and play through a game like this.
Clever writing, funny quips, but this is still probably the weakest project by TeamFourStar.

  • FlareKnight

I’m not sure on this one.

Feel like they went a bit too far in how weak they made Cloud. I mean sure he’s a bit mentally unstable, but he should also be at his most cocky and arrogant stage. Here it’s more like we just skipped to post mind-break Cloud.

Obviously abridged attitudes are going to be different for the sake of comedy, but feels a bit too much of a departure. Will see how it goes from here though.

  • Malrune

Rape jokes, hilariously acceptable when aimed at men!

    • Totalizer

      ^This right here.

  • GRgoldfish

i love this web site, and the bigger its getting the more worried i was getting that the only thing that was going to keep me here was the DBZ abridged episodes. After seeing this i have high hopes that you guys are going to be doing big things 🙂

  • VenomusPL

“You look like an oasis for some very thirsty traveller”
    ” 4 men Cloude!”

    Okay, that’s fucked up… I love it ^_^

  • jpg2112

Hey guys, I am loving this new series! In my opionion tho, I feel that each episode is rushing and moving too fast. I personally would love to see this go on for a long time and really develop the characters and story. You could add a lot of the side quests and develop a lot of different backgrounds with the characters.

    Good Luck Guys

    • jpg2112

ANd too see all of the characters from the game become apart of the cast would be excellent as well.

      • GRgoldfish

it looks like there following the plot of the game so it would make sense that they are going to be using all of the charters form the game itself.

  • lumbeeeoh

“the tale of barret, his merry men and the blonde jack-ass who f*cked up” favorite line so far haha

  • android19

Hearing Ms. Williams as Tifa may be one of my favorite thing to happen this week. Little Peacock’s all grown up. And all the violent tendencies are intact!

  • neutral-nobody

Yeah, I’m not such a fan of prison rape jokes, so that whole bit kinda put me off this episode. Sorry guys, I’ll check out the next one though.

    • VenomusPL

Nah, the rape jokes were the best part of the episode.

      • Kaliaila

If you like the worst part of the episode that’s ok.

  • Mullon

I think you need to make Cloud more assertive. If he was a little more assertive it might make Tifa and Barret likable. It’s not like Kirllin where most of the cast is indifferent, having the entire cast shit on him is just sad. And I don’t want you to change Tifa, I like her being a huge bitch, but that needs something to play off of.

    • Malrune

Agree with this, a loser protagonist that everyone craps on 24/7 isn’t going to be funny for very long. It’s like they desperately wanted to avoid Cloud acting like a stereotypical anime badass but went way too far in the opposite direction.

    • FlareKnight

Yeah, that was my issue as well. Cloud needs to be a bit more assertive for there to be some balance. Right now it’s just….bullying. Which I’m not sure is really all that funny.

If Cloud can hold his own that’s one thing, but just getting pushed around is just “eh”.

  • wcthesecret

    …oh i dont like tifa…

  • Ikasury

this makes me so happy! *tears of joy* cloud, you’re such a whiny little bitch… yay! XD

  • Epsilon

    I want more of this!!!!

  • The Urmician

Lyle McDOuchebag, WOOT WOOT! now only when Takahata101 gets a voice to do…

  • firewoven

Well, episode 2 being up was a surprise. Fucking brilliant.

  • King Quasar

Calling your own series “hilarious” is rather arrogant and the overuse of swearing stinks of poor writing. Yes, I’m a tight-ass.

    • MikeGrahm

      Good for you.

    • firewoven

      You’re also wrong. So yay!

    • Suzuka83

Tight-ass, huh? Let me get those four dudes for you! 😉

    • MadKingMidas

      You f*cked up didnt’ you?

    • android19

it’s a series description, so slight arrogance is par for the course, really. And yeah, I’m not in love with it either. I mean, I’ll keep watching it. It may find its footing, and for an abridged series it’s honestly pretty good. Though for TeamFourStar it is of significantly poorer quality.

  • MKinfra

Honestly, I always assumed that Cloud was a cry baby and tifa is a tough chick that keeps him in line. This is perfect

  • Giorgakis96

I have the feeling that Aerith is going to be the only one nice to Cloud. You know. To make the end of disc one more dramatic.

Btw this is some hilarious shit.

    • DevilHunter1994

From what I’ve seen of Aerith, I’m pretty sure she is going to be the clueless air head of the group. So basically Cloud will have Tifa, who scares the crap of him and Aerith who annoys the crap out of him.

      • Giorgakis96

It’s been really long since the last time I played ff7,but I wonder why do people imagine that Aerith is an airhead? I don’t think she was like that

  • MikeGrahm

I also forgot to say that Sarah Williams’ Tifa is wonderful. This sadistic, violent, catty, manipulative and possibly insane take on her character is unbearably hilarious and is likely going to give me cardiac arrest from the constant laughs she’s going to provide in the future. And for the love of God, please give us flashbacks of Chibi-Tifa tormenting Chibi-Cloud by lighting his hair on fire or something at some point.

    • Tri-Blade

I feel like Sarah Williams (along with the writer) missed the point with Tifa personality. It’s the one thing that keeps bugging me and I feel like it’s pretty bad. If anything, this would be an abridged version of Lightning Farron’s personality.

      • DevilHunter1994

I don’t think they were really trying to abridge her in game personality. I think they were just trying to make a fun character.

    • android19

Williams does that kinda character pretty damn well, as anybody who played Skullgirls can attest. She needs to be in more things.

  • yahia

I feel some book jokes are coming our way. The funny kind.

  • MikeGrahm

Wow, so we’ve already established Cloud as the Krillin of the cast? I love it.

  • Kipor

Hey! Wasn’t expecting this right now (apparently it was set to go on this website today, but I missed that piece of news), but I have to say I’m glad. Now, uh… I guess this will be a little different from most comments? Since I know this is a new series (and based on a game instead of an anime), I will try to give you as much insight in my opinion as possible, since I believe this may help you all with this series.

First off, the three main characters: Cloud, Barret and Tifa. They are so far the one’s that made me laugh the most – which is to expect, I guess – but still, I would like to point on: Tifa’s writing? Extremely spot on. She is being amazingly funny and she basically made this 2nd episode for me. Cloud is very entertaining too; though he is not as funny as Tifa (after all, he lacks her apparent crazyness) he is still very funny in the way his reactions are written and acted. All the voices were good, but Cloud’s has been particularly great in these two episodes. The one I would suggest that you dedicate a little more attention is Barret; he had some good moments (like the bomb, which was great) but so far, he seems a tad more… “bland”, I suppose. Not exactly bland, but he isn’t as funny and/or entertaining as I imagined he would be. Also… I’m pretty sure there’s a particular gimmick with the way he sounds, but I swear I just don’t get it – though this probably has to do with the fact that English is not my first language and that I’m not used to accent’s.

Now, the secondary characters. They were the weakest point so far, I would say, and while this is usually the case in most series, it’s always good to make the best out of them (or even go as far as to make them better than the main characters). With the expection of Jessie’s scene with her foot stuck, all the scenes with them were either unamussing or a bit annoying for me.

Well… for now the series has only one episode, so I guess this is all I can say. To summarize: Tifa and Cloud are perfect, Barret could use a little work and the secondary characters could be more interesting (gimmicks, jokes, a little more attention… I don’t know exactly what could make them more interesting, but you guys are good at this. If there’s a way, you’ll think of it). I’m really liking this series thus far, and I am really anxious for some more. Good job to everyone involved, especially you two, Taka and Ant. I wish you guys the best with this!

  • rexshen

Not really liking this version of cloud to wimpy and annoying still better then the Advent children/Kingdom heart/Dissidia versions of cloud that Square loves to shove down our throats making everyone forget how cloud actually was in the actual game.

  • Morgil

They should have showed a bunch of people loosing power after the reactor blew up. Like, hospitals and stuff. It would’ve better driven the terrorist angle home.

  • Freakin fantastic job! Been a fan of DBZA forever. Felt motivated enough create an account to say how much I appreciate your effort!

    Keep up the good work!

  • godzilla719

Hi there, I’m Barret, and this is Cloud, he was a prison bitch.

  • Ubersupersloth

No joke about Tifa’s rack? I’m honestly surprised.

    • DevilHunter1994

Well, they did have one in the first episode.

    • Morgil

Oh, I’m sure there’ll be one eventually.

  • Hermit_Priest1334

This is funny as hell, we need more of this in the world. You guys have out done yourselves once again.

  • dameothedon

Oh my god, this is pure gold, ANOTHER great reason why I love TFS 😀

  • Flamemaster9

Oh man poor Cloud he really just has the worst luck.

    • razord9

      As well as friends.
